Take
a vacation from stress!
All too often, we hurry from home to work and back again, trying to
squeeze 72 hours of obligation into 24 hours of actual time. The resulting
destruction of our good health is rarely taken into consideration until
we are overloaded with stress.
With such a pace accepted as a daily routine, we resent the infringement
of the common cold or think that a nagging backache is something we
just have to tolerate. More and more professionals now are realizing
they suffer from stress-related health problems and need to find an
outlet for the pressure. Massage is a way many choose to release the
tension while enjoying the luxury of personal care. Regular stress-relieving
massages can increase alertness, efficiency and the enjoyment of life.
Elaine
Allen of Main Street Massage, is located in Clifton Springs,
New York, and also offers massage to the cities of Canandaigua, Victor,
Farmington, Geneva, and Newark in New York state. She is now a Preferred
Care provider.
Elaine uses, among
other techniques, intense moist heat packs which are in a hydrocollator
where the temp is kept at about 160 degrees. She uses a towel and the
heat pack - with her hand under it all on your back. People LOVE this.
Additionally Elaine Allen has a CHI Machine which gives a passive aerobic
exercise and very rhythmic massage to the spine. Motor vehicle accident
cases are taken on a case-by-case basis for massage therapy.
Some
of the techniques Elaine has perfected in over 20 years of experience
providing massage therapy are:
Aromatherapy
Aromatherapy is the use of essential oils for curative and rejuvenating
effects. Dating back to ancient Egypt, India, and the Far East, this
simple therapy has been used for centuries to reduce stress and tension,
refresh and invigorate the body, soothe emotions, and clear the mind.
After an initial discussion with the client, specific essential oils
are used in conjunction with other appropriate techniques, such as massage,
acupressure, or reflexology.
Deep
Tissue Massage
Deep Tissue Massage is designed to reach the deep portions of thick
muscles, specifically the individual muscle fibers. Using deep muscle
compression and friction along the grain of the muscle, its purpose
is to un-stick the fibers of the muscles and release both toxins and
deeply held patterns of tension.
Ortho-Bionomy
Massage
This gentle massage technique is often called the most homeopathic of
bodywork. Ortho-bionomy uses movements and gentle manipulations to find
the position of most comfort in response to a pain. The practitioner
then works from there to release the core problem.
Raindrop
Therapy
This is a powerful, non-invasive tool for helping to correct defects
in the curvature of the spine. During the years it has been practiced,
it has been able to resolve numerous cases of scoliosis and eliminate
the need for back therapy. It has also helped people with pain management
in chronic pain issues.
Reflexology
This is an acupressure type technique performed on the hands and feet
and is based on the ancient Oriental theory that meridian lines or pathways
carry energy throughout the body. Because each zone or part of the body
has a corresponding reflex point on the feet, stimulating that reflex
point causes stimulation in the natural energy of the related organ.
Crystalline-type deposits and/or tenderness indicate a dysfunction,
and pressure is applied to clear out congestion and restore normal functioning
and health.
Swedish
Massage
Now known as "traditional" massage. Swedish massage includes
long gliding strokes, kneading, friction, tapping, and shaking motions.
It is effective for most ailments, because massaging the skin, the body's
largest organ, sets up a chain reaction that produces a positive effect
on all layers and systems of the body. It affects the nerves, muscles,
glands, and circulation, and promotes health and wellbeing.
